At Canine Positive Pathways, we also prioritise educating owners on canine behaviour, empowering you with the knowledge to effectively communicate and bond with your furry friend.
I know what you're thinking? What do those letters mean after my name. RVN stands for Registered Veterinary Nurse and VSA CDT stands for Victoria Stilwell Academy Certified Dog Trainer. I live in the Torbay area and have two beautiful Cocker Spaniels called Gatsby and Willow.
I have worked in veterinary for the past 9 years, starting as a receptionist and working towards becoming a vet nurse. I qualified in 2020, despite the covid outbreak. I continue to work in clinical practice a Greenbay Vets, situated in Paignton and Torquay. I have gone on to obtain a nursing certificate in animal behaviour and I am currently studying a degree in animal behaviour at Sparsholt College.
I use positive reinforcement which is a method of teaching behaviours by rewarding desired actions with treats, praise, toys, or other rewards that the dog finds motivating. This approach focuses on encouraging and reinforcing behaviours you want to see more of, rather than punishing unwanted behaviours. I focus on kindness and working at the dogs pace to allow them choice and control. This hugely benefits the human-animal bond. Choose kindness always!
I am certified which means I have gone through rigorous training and education, in order to provide you with the best service and appropriate training techniques. I am working towards becoming a Clinical Animal Behaviourist, specialising in canine behaviour.
1-2-1 dog training, also known as one-on-one dog training, is a personalised approach to dog training where a professional trainer works individually with a dog and its owner. This method focuses on the specific needs and issues of the dog and provides tailored solutions to ensure effective training. Benefits include flexibility on locations, enhanced bonds, personalisation and more.
Recall training teaches a dog to come back to its owner when called, working on focus and impulse control skills. Using positive reinforcement and gradually increasing distractions to create a fool-proof behaviour.
Loose leash training teaches a dog to walk beside its owner without pulling on leash. Loose lead training makes walks more enjoyable and safer for both the dog and their caregiver.

At the moment, I work full time as a veterinary nurse, alongside running my dog training business. Currently I work Tuesday's, Saturday's and every other Monday afternoon for Canine Positive Pathways.
This will depend on the individual and the issues you are facing. Whilst I have experience in canine behaviour, I am not a qualified behaviourist (yet). However, there are some cases that I may be able to offer some assistance. For those who are experiencing extreme aggressive behaviours, please visit the Animal Behaviour & Training Council (ABTC) website to find a local clinical animal behaviourist.
Yes, older dogs can still learn new things. It may take more time and patience, but we can work with dogs of any age to improve their behaviour and obedience.
This will depend on each individual situation. However, generally, as a rule, it is advised to do one dog at a time to get the most out of your training sessions.
At the moment, we do not offer this. However, this is potentially going to be in the pipeline, so keep your eyes peeled!
We love caring for you dog!
If you would like to schedule an appointment or discuss your dogs needs, please send me a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
